The National Association of Secondary School Principals(NASSP) has embarked on an ambitious path to expand their highly effective training for school principals by providing it an online format, working in partnership with Education Development Center who helped them develop capacity to facilitate and design online professional development. Learn about the process to transition to online professional development for school leaders and explore the Breaking Ranks: Leading Change course.

NASSP focuses on knowledge, skills, and attitudes for effective administrators. You need to assess where your school leaders are before you can develop them. However, this often doesn’t always happen.
All principals want to raise student achievement by creating a context where this can occur. Back in 1996, a series called Breaking Ranks Framework was started.

Online learning remains new territory for many principals
Once principals have the experience of it (online courses,) they will get it. www.nassp.org/skillsassessment
-An online skills assessments for principals to use as a self-assessment---a 360 degree assessment
-At the conclusion, you get a sense of strengths and areas to develop as a principal
To help with the PD, NASSP worked with EdTech Leaders Online at the Education Development Center to develop a platform for their courses, starting with facilitation and then course developing training.
Encourage principals to engage online themselves—use twitter, take an online course, etc.
